The poll data really underscores what we're seeing on the ground. When you have 63% disapproval and half the country backing the No Kings movement, that's a fundamental shift in how people view executive power. These local resistance efforts in places like Chicgo are proving more effective than anyone predicted.

Thanks Dan Froomkin! Bouie's observation that Trump "inspires ferocious energy and opposition against him among a large part of the voting public” fits with social movement growth theory. A main engine for engagement is increasingly egregious actions from the autocratic regime. Which is, of course, what we've seen playing out since day 1 of Trump's second term. There's some lag time for the people to respond... but sure enough the opposition is steadily building.
